Does anybody in the list have a positive (and legally correct) experience
redistributing MTS (NT Option Pack)? For us it'd be enough to have the
permission to distribute copies of the OptionPack CD with our application
for our NT customers. It's not acceptable for our customers to download the
Option Pack from the Microsoft site by themselves.
We've asked Microsoft (through two regional subsidiaries in Europe where we
operate), and on the phone they say no problem, just burn it and give it to
your customers, but they are very reserved giving any written statement.
Our lawyers recommended us not to redistribute without written agreement
from Microsoft.
So, we consider redesigning and rebuilding our application not to use MTS,
which will be of course very hard (and expensive), and that's why I'm
looking for peer advice/help this way. Any experience (also negative) will
be very appreciated.
