The answer is No, not exactly, though you'd at least need to use a
single license to have your DCOM service running on that server. This
can be launched under the administrative account, or another ID.

Subject: Question about server licensing and DCOM

We've got a potential customer that asked about running our app in
distributed mode (we use DCOM between the client and the server) and the
licensing implications of this. The customer thought that they might
    need
to get additional CALs (client access licenses) to use our software. So
    my
question to the assembled brains here is, does using DCOM between the
    client
and the server require a CAL ? I thought you needed CALs to login or
connect to a server to use the resources on the server like shared files
    or
printers. Does DCOM fall under this defintion or not ?

    Thanks in advance.
    Nick.
