terminating an executing com call from the initiater

hi all
i have an atl component whih is marked free_threaded
i call another component during normal business processing,
and this another component is made using sta ,sometimes this component hangs up and my call doesn't return from the call,so what i did is i fired a thread which goes to sleep as soon as it is created for 3 minutes,and in the thread process i am trying to do an objectcontext->release ,it doesn't let me do this,
how can i kill release my object.
