Hello all,
I have questions about the routing table entries as
described in RFC 1583.
ftp://ftp.isi.edu/in-notes/rfc1583.txt
The Table 12 (page 98) gives the routing table for
router RT6 for no areas configured. My question
pertains to 2 particular entries in the table.
N Ib 0 intra-area 7 * *
N Ia 0 intra-area 12 RT10 *
1.Why is the cost from RT6 to Ia 12? Should it not be
0 because the interface belongs to RT6.
2.Why is the "Type" mentioned as network(N)? The route
is really to the router RT10?
3.Can someone explain in which step of the algorithm
is this portion of the table updated?
4.What will the LSA of router RT6 look like with
respect to RT10. I assume it will advertise a type 1
and a type 3 link but what are the other details of
the LSA, like the type and how each is used in the
routing table calculation etc.
Thanks,
-Vikas
