    This will be done automatically if the smart card subsystem detects that it is possible.
    More precisely, just before the first command sent to the card, and based on the card's ATR and the reader capabilities,
    it will pick the highest speed supported by both the card and the reader and get the reader to send a PTS request.
    Also, if that fails, it will go back to the default speed.
    Of course, that only applies to cards in negotiable mode.
