use of the api ScardControl

Hi all,

I need to use the SCardControl function to send specific data to the reader,
but to have a valid handle for that call, a card must be inserted in the
reader (I retrieve the handle by the ScardConnect function)!
Does somebody know how to have a reader handle (and not a card handle)?
