ATMEL should answer this, but nevertheless:
 From what I've found with smartcards, very few card manufacturers state
that they really support the ISO 7816-4 standard. So the ATMEL CryptoMemory
card would be no exception in this case. It seems that some cards support a
few or several of the ISO 7816-4 commands, but there are all sorts of
variations and proprietary additions. And many cards are not even close to
the ISO7816-4 commands, though they support the underlying 7816-3.

The 7816-4 standard is sometimes referred to as the "inter-industry"
standard for commands, maybe they use those words?
However, ideally, a card supporting that standard in full shouldn't need to
include any command description in its manual, but only a copy of (or a
reference to) the ISO7816-4 standard. But I've never seen that happen.
Instead, they have lengthy descriptions of all the allowed commands, and
how they work, which of course is fine in itself, but leaves the user
wondering whether this is all standardized or not.

The ISO7816-3 is better supported, which of course is neccessary for the
card readers to work properly.
