1. NTBugtraq Conference - meet Alan Paller of SANS
2. New FAQ added.
3. Friendly reminder.

1. In case you needed to be reminded, NTBugtraq is having a conference.
Alan Paller, Director of Research for The SANS Institute just confirmed
that he's going to be here for it. An official description can be found
at;

http://ntbugtraq.ntadvice.com/default.asp?pid=64&sid=1

For info about what else you can look forward to during the conference,
see;

http://ntbugtraq.ntadvice.com/default.asp?pid=63&sid=1

If you've decided to come, see;

http://ntbugtraq.ntadvice.com/default.asp?pid=66&sid=1

2. I posted a new FAQ article, listing my understanding of the various
version terms that Microsoft uses, like RC and RTM and such. Might prove
useful in trying to explain things to those that haven't seen them
before. Suggestions and/or corrections welcomed.

3. A friendly reminder to snip extra quoting out of any replies you send
to the list. With 24717 subscribers, each wasted 1kb of data in a
message is a lot of unnecessary traffic to transfer, not to mention that
most people find it a waste of space on their machines to store a
message over, and over, and over...;-]

Also, don't forget about Out of Office Agents or Automatic Replies. If
you use one, make sure you don't respond to a list message with one. You
can add the keyword NTBUGTRAQ to the subject line of messages to allow
for easy filtering. For details on how to do this, and other commands
you can use to adjust your subscription options, send a message to
listservlistserv.ntbugtraq.com with;

info refcard

in the message body, you don't need a subject line.

If you do try and alter your subscription and discover the listserv says
you're not subscribed, its probably because your email address has
changed since you subscribed (you may not know it). To fix this, you're
going to have to;

a) Subscribe anew using your current address.
b) Adjust your subscription options to be what you want (see my note
about "info refcard" above.
c) Send me a note including your old address (if you know it) or any
other email addresses you may have used, plus, your current address.
I'll delete your old subscription and make sure I don't delete your new
one.

Questions, comments, suggestions, complaints, send them to me, Russ
Cooper, your NTBugtraq moderator, at Russ.Cooperrc.on.ca

Cheers,
Russ - NTBugtraq moderator
