"Hello!" to the NTBugtraq community. As someone who has to work with german NT 4.0 I would like to add my experience (or call it $0.02 ;) Paul Leach "promised" a few days ago on the NTSecurity list that he will push the production of non-usa hotfixes. So there is some hope people outside the usa are able to buy a pentium soon (AMD stock falling? ;) It was Paul Leach too, who explained, why .dll's are language dependent. But in practise some .dll's seem not to care about that. So I installed the pentium fix (usa) on a german system. Lots of HAL dll's but the (web)server is running now for a month or so without any problems. I have heard from a friend that you will run into trouble with Mircosoft because this trick violates the service contract. So beware ... (if you have a service contract) And of course you do it on your own risk. Don't blame me if your server is "absent" after a patch with language-aware dll's. (this OS offers the real thrill, doesn't it?) Regards, Marc -- Marc Binderberger 97076 Wuerzburg, Germany marcsniff.ct-net.de Powered by FreeBSD ;-)
