A subscriber brought this to my attention.
Windows NT 4.0 Terminal Server Service Pack 5;
http://www.microsoft.com/ntserver/terminalserver/downloads/recommended
/tsesp5/
includes the ability to restrict which printer drivers can be
installed by users. A new value of "LoadTrustedDrivers" can be
enabled to restrict available printer drivers to a set defined by the
TS Administrator.
http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q238/0/70.ASP
provides full details. Aaron's message should be a heads-up to TS
Administrators to make sure they test any printer drivers they are
going to permit on their servers.
It should also be noted that the Citrix Metaframe client for TS
permits local printer drivers (drivers installed on the client
machine) to be mapped to their TS session. If the client happens to
be an NT Server, it will install the printer drivers onto the TS,
potentially causing the problems that Aaron has seen. This was the
primary motivation behind the "LoadTrustedDrivers" key.
Cheers,
