I saw this article a few days ago:

which talks about a similar DoS against the OS itself, and works against
multiple OS's.
It works by opening and closing hundreds of TCP connections very quickly
which exhausts the file handles on a machine.
Could the same be happening here? I'll hazard a guess it is :)
Anyone able to help more?
