Normally I would not have done this, but it was late at night and I suffered
from a lack of caffine. I recently leveled my machine (3/11/02) and was
installing Windows 2000. I could not find my PC-Cillin 2000 CD so I
continued installing all of the other software and service pack 2. I
finally found the cd and went to install the AV software and it continually
failed. Sent emails to TrendMicro and they said to download the version off
the web site. It failed also. Make a long story short I lunched my video
driver (4/3/02) and had to run a repair on my Win2k installation. Generally
this will revert the machine back to a pre-service pack state?? Before I
reinstalled the service pack I installed PC-Cillin and it installed without
a hitch. While I would think one would normally install the service pack
and hot fixes last in a machine build, I would also think you should still
be able to install an AV software at anytime. I have sent numerous emails
to TrendMicro and have received no other responses. I thought this would be
something the list might want to know about. I would appreciate any
feedback as to a possible work around, should I encounter this situation
again.
