FYI, the date of the annual NTBugtraq retreat has been changed. This year it will be held from September 26-29, 2003. This change is being made to coincide with the Virus Bulletin VB2003 Conference being held September 25-26, 2003, in Toronto.

Over the past 5 years the Retreat has been host to many AV Professionals and CARO members. As Roger Thompson, TruSecure's Director of Malcode Research, phrases it, "we are in the 4th era of viruses". In this era, viruses are largely based on security exploits or security bugs in the operating system or application. Not that AV and security have been far apart in the past, but the marriage is now upon us and combining our forces shall prove interesting.

It is my fervent hope to have many CARO members present at this year's retreat, not to mention those of you interested in the relationship between virus research and traditional computer security.
