In 2.7, I did have problems with it when used on RAIDFRame RAID0 partitions, but
I have had none with 2.8. Apparently others have not been so lucky :) I have it
enabled, for instance, on our central Syslog server, which I beat the stuffing
out of on a regular basis. 2x18GB USCSI2 drives in a RAID0 config for /var and
softdeps, with no crashes and great performance. Test your machine well before
putting into production. Hit it will multiple instances of bonnie, huge untars
(to stress the writing), and lots of finds, then be ready to disable them is
    trouble pops up.

I only had problems with kernel panics, and never filesystem
corruption. Are folks seeing problems with filsystem corruption with
    softdeps on 2.8?
