Hello, and thanks in advance for any help!
i'm trying to install 2.8 on an old Packard Bell P75, it has two IDE disks,
1.2gb(master, IDE channel 0) and an 850mb (slave, IDE channel 0)
there is also a 4xCDRom on IDE channel 1 (all IDE is on the onboard
controller)
two 3Com 3c905B nics (i would like to use this as a firewall/router in my home)
64 MB RAM, 32 of EDO and 32 of FPM
no other cards or devices in the system
i've used rawrite to create a boot floppy using the floppy28.fs image
the machine seems to boot fine, but then goes away with the message:
wdc1:0:0 device timeout, c_bcount=0, c_skip=0
this message simply repeats at the timeout interval (?)
the complete set of stuff related to the disks (i think this is a cdrom
problem?)
is:
wdc0 at isa0 port 0x1f0/8 irq 14
wd0 at wdc0 channel 0 drive 0 : <ST31270A>
wd0: can use 16-bit, PIO mode 4
wd0: 16-sector PIO, LBA, 1223MB, 2485 cyl, 16 head, 63 sec, 2505528 sectors
wd1 wdc0 channel 0 drive 1: <Maxtor 7850 AV>
wd1: can use 16-bit, PIO mode 3
wd1: 8-sector PIO, LBA, 814MB, 1654 cyl, 16 head, 63 sec, 1667232 sectors
wdc1 at isa0 port 0x170/8 irq 15
atapiscsi0 at wdc1 channel 0
scsibus0 at atapiscsi0: 2 targets
wdc1:0:0 device timeout, c_bcount=0, c_skip=0
the last message repeats forever.
i've looked through the FAQ and the list archives, and the best i've come
up with is:
http://www.sigmasoft.com/~openbsd/archive/openbsd-misc/199910/msg00556.html
on misc.
any help is much appreciated!
thanks~!
