    Right, I remember more clearly now. The problem is that on some machines
    16-bit PCMCIA cards do not work in CardBus slots. Disable CardBus on your
    system and it should work, i.e.,

    boot> boot -c
    [...]
    UKC> disable cbb
    UKC> quit
