    Ok, I see what's going on. Nothing is freezing up, Ctrl+Alt+Esc takes you
    to the Debugger. Unfortunately, when you press it on any virtual terminal
    other than the first one, you don't see that on your screen.

    The issue here is that the new wskbd(4) driver that wscons uses was not
    honoring the db_console variable, which is "0" by default. I just
    committed a fix for this.

    In the meantime, just be careful to hit F1 and not Esc. :-)
