downloading the patches and running the patch utility isn't really the difficult part. the
hard part is really rebuilding important system stuff.
currently, when you download your system source, it already has the stuff from errata applied.
CVS'ing updates is a very easy process. making a port would simply replace the CVS functionality,
without a real improvement.
plus, i wouldn't really want a port mucking with my source tree.
