Hi All:
The ISP i work for is thinking of using shared ports from a large
port provider requiring the need for pop before smtp to prevent
spamming.
I have looked up the various solutions available for pop before smtp
and am not happy with most of them.
I am thinking of writing a small client server program in which pop
will insert allowed ip addresses into a data structure and the mailer
(in our case sendmail) will query the daemon to see if the ip address
is permitted to relay.
Without hacking sendmail, how might i get it to call the client
routine ? I'm not that much of a sendmail guru. Qmail might be an
option in the future, but not now.
