Just an idea: could it be possible, that the problem
lies on the 'other' side of the connection? Perhaps your conn
drops after a couple of minutes with no data on the line
and then you cant reconnect because of an overloaded
authentication server at your provider?
We had a similar problem here and solved it sending a ping every 180 secs or so to an outside host so the connection would stay up on
the DSL ;)
