Hi,
Sorry for the cross-post on misc, but I added more information and felt
this would be better off here.
I'm trying to install 3.0 on a VA Linux 501 server. It has 2x500Mhz PIII
processors. The install hangs after a certain point. I copied down the boot
information. The installation hangs after these lines:
pcibios0: PCI IRQ Routing Table rev 1.0
0xfdf40/160(generic)
pcibios0: PCI Interrupt Router at 000:18:0 ("Intel 82371FB PCI-ISA" rev 0x00)
pcibios0: PCI bus #0 is the last bus
bios0: ROM list: 0xc0000/0x8000 0xc8000/0x800 0xe4000/0xc8800/0x800
0xe4000/0x4000!
Pchb0 at pci0 dev 0 Function 0 "Intel 82443BX" rev 0x03
I tried boot -c, and even tried disabling pcibios to no avail. When I set
it to verbose, I see that the installation freezes just after:
Pchb probe returned 1
Probing for pcic*
pcic probe returned 0
pchb probe won
Pchb0 at pci0 dev 0 Function 0 "Intel 82443BX" rev 0x03
Looking through the mailing list, I don't see any recent problems with the
Intel 82443BX chipset. Does anyone have any suggestions? When it freezes,
the floppy drive light remains on. I'm guessing that this is an issue with
the IDE controllers, but there is no way to turn them off.
I have more of the boot information if anyone thinks it would be helpful.
Unfortunately, I couldn't get the serial console redirection to work
correctly on the motherboard, so I had to write down all the output.
The installation hangs with all three installation floppies and also on
the CDROM install.
Thanks,
Nicholas
