Doesn't parted (ftp://ftp.gnu.org/pub/gnu/parted/) support UFS resizing?

Nope, parted support resizing only for ext2, Linux-swap and FAT type
filesystems and I'm using 4.2BSD (FFS). Thanks anyway.

At least for ext2 and vfat resizing, it has always done a perfect job for
    me.
