    Cool, that worked, thanks for the location for the code where that
    actually gets picked up. I changed 0x2f8 above to 0x3f8 for com1.

    Now, would all of this actually make any difference? I do get alot
    of strange behaviour whenever I redir console IO to com1, perhaps
    this will fix all of that? I'll keep you all posted.
