I can access Secure website (https://) from work, so does that mean that
The proxy does support SSL?
Also does this pose any security threat or anything that I might get in
trouble for?

Read man sshd about the port option. Then set up a sshd on port
443 and hope your firewall has a SSL proxy. Use PuTTy or
something on your windows machine and connect to your homemachine
on 443.
