    Amen, brother. Actually, what I'd like us to do as an OS community is
    come up with a standardised way of managing source/binary patches, rather
    than having everyone rolling their own (or not doing anything). (Of
    course, rolling your own is a fine thing and anything we do should no
    preclude that either!)

    I intend to put my money where my mouth is on this one, and to that end I
    did some embryonic work along these lines earlier in the year, essentially
    building on the ports infrastructure. It's nowhere near finished or ready
    for prime time.

    P.S. This is been a somewhat contentious issue in the past and I have no
    intention of stirring up bad blood. But if people are interested (and I
    know there are some out there) I'd like to work on it with them... ;)
