There seems to be some confusion over what "default" means. Neither of
those packages are available without doing some installs, so I think
you are misunderstanding it.

Take a look at the c-client documentation drivers.txt, which describes
how a driver is selected for mail, and how uw-imap decides what
constitutes INBOX.
Take a look at src/osdep/unix/env_unix.c to play more games with it.
Finally, understand that INBOX (or inbox, or InBoX) is the INBOX. It's
where the IMAP server puts new mail by default, where the IMAP client
looks for new mail by default, and this is as it should be. Your IMAP
client should not be configured to look in Mailbox to get new mail.
