keywords: kernel panic crash ddb ps trace serial console
i'm sure the i won't be the first to tell you, but one thing you
did do wrong is waste our time.
you did not give the output from ps or trace, you did not search
the archives wherein it is stated that you should give us the
output from ps and trace, you did not read the crash manpage, you
did not tell us which kernel config you are running, you did not
tell us that you are running GENERIC (which is the only supported
configuration) and you do not seem to realize that playing with
things you do not understand will break stuff...
now on to something useful. in no particular order:
read the man page for "crash"
hook up a serial console
read the manpage for "boot"
get a logged crash, with useful info
check that you can reproduce this with GENERIC from
a fresh source tree. very important with -current
post your kernel configuration and give us a good
reason why you need something other than GENERIC
consider updating to -stable
i'm sure you think i'm an ass. that's nice. we don't like seeing/answering
the same questions 4 times a day. the only reason i'm actually posting the
steps to take is so that they're in the archives. but i notice that no one
reads the archives anyway...
