    Ok, what I didn't want to do was to install the updated libraries on
    the machine I'm using to build, etc .. but then I guess there's DESTDIR
    to overcome that bit.

    My original point was more to flag that there were some compile issues
    with what was I thought (but could be mistaken) approaching 'release'
    code, and in case they hadn't been found, that someone might want to
    tidy them up before doing a 'milestone' release.

    Apologies if the observations are unnecessary, unwanted, etc.

    It might be useful to expand the release(0) man page (or add additional
    ones) on how to build tar balls, etc (or just have a web page
    somewhere) where non-BSD hard core guys like myself can pick up and run
    with info rather than having to try and learn it all from scratch again.

    It's been a while since I played with OpenBSD, NetBSD, and FreeBSD ..
    and they all have their own little idiosyncrasies which confuse the
    hell out of me.
