I've been strugling a bit with this. Basically, I want to reset IP
address information (while keeping the rest of the setting) on an
    interface.

Is there anything I should be aware of before calling SIOCSIFFLAGS? Some
state that it's needed to bring an interface down before doing anything
with it. Correct? I've tried several approaches, most of them levaing my
interfaces in a state that looks ok (from what I can see with ifconfig),
but a reboot is needed before they would work normally again.

And yes, I've read src/sbin/ifconfig.c, but that didn't make the picture
clearer. Plus, I don't need the fancy thing it does, i.e. IPv6, IPX,
AppleTalk, aliases, etc. support. Just a simple IPv4 address config.

    Thanks,
    /haver
