    Hi,

    I'm a "happy" owner of the A7V8X ASUS-mainboard.
    http://www.asus.com/prog/spec.asp?m=A7V8X

The -current dmesg on it (the full text can be viewed at
    http://home.t-online.de/home/Alexander.Farber/OpenBSD/dmesg.newhope ) reads:
    "VIA VT8233 AC97 Audio" rev 0x50 at pci0 dev 17 function 5 not configured

And auvia had to be disabled in GENERIC to make it boot.

    On http://www.FreeBSD.org/releases/4.7R/relnotes-i386.html
I've read that there is a driver for it.

Would anybody cluefull be interested in logging
into my PC and trying to adapt this driver?

I've already setup a serial console to that PC
and Henning had been able to log in and look
at the Broadcom LAN chip there... But I'm not
that sure if the same can work for a sound chip
(since you can't hear the sound - unless you call
    me by phone :-)

    Regards
    Alex
