I would just erase the locate database (/var/db/locate.database) and
regenerate it with another invocation of /usr/libexec/locate.updatedb.
However, if in your laptop's death /usr/libexec/locate.updatedb itself
was corrupted, you should get a fresh copy of that shell script from
another computer or the OpenBSD CVS or cvsweb server.
