newsyslog(8) with -m flag

Greetings,

I want root to be notified whenever a new entry appears in /var/log/authlog
.

In /etc/newsyslog I have:

/var/log/authlog root:wheel 640 7 * 168 ZM root

In /var/cron/tabs/root I have:

1-59 * * * * /usr/bin/newsyslog -m

I ssh to the server to generate a new entry in /var/log/authlog ... no mail
is sent.

What am I doing wrong?

Any advice will be appreciated,
