Hi misc,

today I installed OpenBSD 3.4 on a test box, which previously ran
FreeBSD 4.8. While installing distribution sets, 3.4 kernel started
complaining about soft transfer errors, downgrading to UDMA mode 1. Now
after boot, when the system mounts the partitions, it always downgrades
to UDMA mode 1 and dumps several reading errors. It also dumps errors
while reading/writing to disk.
It seems bad hardware, but FreeBSD didn't give such warnings, running
the disk on UDMA33. For testing purposes I reinstalled FreeBSD
4.8...with no errors even putting the disk under huge load. Maybe
FreeBSD silently corrects errors without raising anything to the user?
Or it's an OpenBSD related problem? 3.3 gave the same warnings too.
