  here's the approach that would've saved me a lot of time figuring
  out the problem when i had that. naturally, try to do only one
  at a time so you know whether or not what you just did mattered.

- try a different HD Controller
- remove some devices from the HD Controller ( eg unplug cdrom )
- unplug the power connectors from various non-critical-to-testing
  devices in the PC.

  in my case those missing interrupts were caused by either an
  inadequate power supply or something fighting between my HD and
  my cdrom ( i haven't hooked the cdrom back up yet, so i still
  don't know which, but the missing interrupts which used to be almost
  hourly have been gone for about 2-3 weeks since unplugging cdrom. ).

  i don't think there is any guarantee your situation or anyone
  elses will be similar to that tho. that 'device timeout reading fsbn'
  makes you real upset when you see it. it sucks. good luck finding
  it.
