it seems that elastic networks = siemens' 'speedstream' division in
  some way shape or form.

i've seen 'elastic networks stormport's around romney wv, which use
a PPPoA/E client called 'enternet 300' to authenticate onto the ISP's
  DSL network.

also seen 'speedstream 5260' or '5262' dsl modems in a few regions where
the ISP is doing either RBE or RFC1483 such that the IP gotten from the
ISP lands on the customer's external interface when everything is working
right -- but if it is not working right, the modem will give an RFC1918
IP to the external interface ( ie, either DHCP was unreachable or the
DSL synch was not achieved ).

not sure if that relates to anything , but i thought to throw it out there.
