well, I would not think so necessarily.
The name "Adaptec" doesn't exactly stand for quality, and especially
with network cards they have a track record of hughe fuckups.
I don't know about this specific card tho. On the other hand, sf(4)
isn't known for its performance either. and the observations you made
speak for a bad chip or a completely fucked driver, or both.
