I run OpenBSD exclusively on Dell servers, with no issues. This includes 1650,1750,4400,350,650 etc ... and a ton of older Dell boxes.

Subject: OpenBSD and Storage Servers

Hey folks!

i am trying to configure a a openbsd server to buy by the end of this
month. I am considering IBM, HP and DELL boxes. My problem relates about
the lack of information on third parties (like many of you) expepriences
on such hardware.

So, i wonder about you experience on such a hardware,
performance/stability related information is very appreciated.

For instance, i saw reading Dell PE 1600 it support on board U320 SCSI
controller. But the same paper does say nothing about which models it
is. Do anyone here runs OBSD 3.5 on PE 1600?

Marco told me to stay away from DELL PERC 4SC due to low performance
under very high loads. Is there plans to fix such? What could be a good
substitute for such a raid controllers ? Which other boxes come with a
good substitute ?

Any one using IBM *series? What about RAID/SCSI support with HP DL3??
series? Does anybody here run DL3?? series?

thanks a lot for your time and cooperation.
