I'm currently running KDE 3.1.3 on Openbsd 3.4 (waiting for 3.6 to arrive).
Originally konqueror would always start by displaying my home page at
/home/daf/... . Then Konqueror started coming up with no page displayed.
Then it started coming up with www.solomonstemple.com or some such
displayed no matter what I did - until I started konqueror from the command
line, at which point konqueror started displaying my home page again.
From that point on I have always started konqueror( and kmail) from a command line.
This has had the added advantage of letting me see the info/warning/error
messages thrown out by Qt while KDE apps are running.

The problem with Konqueror not displaying my home page is a typical trick
of adware and is what prompted my concern about malware. But this
is definitely a problem with KDE, not with openbsd. I've had other strange
behavior at times while running KDE, but it is almost always eliminated by
logging off and back in again, sometimes by merely restarting Xwindows.
To me, that is strong evidence for insecure code in KDE/Qt applications.
