PPPoE and where to specify an Access Concentrator

Dear list,

do the recent versions (3.5, 3.6) of pppoe(8) allow for manually
specifying an Access Concentrator name in the configuration? If so,
would anyone know how?

The manuals do not seem to specify such an option to pppoe(8).
Googling did not turn up much either, apart from a reference in
pppoe.h to PPPOE_TAG_AC_NAME which may serve an entirely different
purpose.

Should pppoe(8) not support this feature, I will just try using
rp-pppoe (although it does not seem to be in ports). Unless, someone
is working on porting the in-kernel pppoe(4) from NetBSD (which I know
allows for specifying the AC). If not, I'll try to 'shut up and code'.

The reason for all this lies in the machine living on a network that
is mostly populated with unsuspecting windows users. These users may
at times turn on their "Internet connection sharing" creating
secondary (though useless) Access Concentrators. These AC's are
indistinguishable on the basis of a service name.

In such an environment, I would prefer to stay out of trouble and
specify both the correct Service Name (pppoe -n) and AC. I know this
problem shouldn't occur often, but every now and then it turns up.
Windows users know this error as # 691...

Any insight greatly appreciated,

Rogier Krieger
