you got that completely backwards. there is nothing in rc.local by
default (except for comments and the cfs thing that should die) for a
reason, no need to merge anything. in fact i think we should not have a
default rc.local AT ALL.

if you play nice and use the .local variants upgrading is now a matter
of a few minutes, thanks to nick's excellent upgrade document.

If you want to make your life harder - sure, go on, we won't stop you.
