Re: 3.6 random lockup

about that...

One of my obsd boxes (a ver 3.6 Intel PIII 500) just died on me

it's a standard pc with two IDE drives, where as one is mounted as /cargo
for (vs)ftpd use

Now, I haven't (and no one else for that matter (as far as I know =) )
accessed the FTP service for some time, thought I should checkup on the disk
usage and when I 'cd /cargo' it freezes and my ssh client times out.

What ever I end up doing about it, it would be nice to know how to prevent
this in the future.

My initial feeling tells me that something told the drives to spindown when
not used for so and so long.

I have been poking around with the 'atactl' stick inside an identical
installation (both sw and hw) though I don't really know what I am looking
for.

Would anyone care to spend a minute to shead some light over my daemon
crowded desk?
