Cool. I'll have to give this a try. I seem to remember seeing people
do this on the misc list. I didn't try this because I thought I read
the poster in the url I quoted originally did this. Rereading his
post I see he was changing sysctl values (it was a late night last
night).

So, is this expected behaviour of mysql on 3.6, or is upping the open
files just a workaround for an existing bug?
