Too bad its mp3s you lost, because you need to know a piece of what
your looking for to find it, like google. However, in case this
happens to you again for ASCII text, or future readers, I'll explain
the method I used to recover.
Once I deleted two days worth of C code by typing rm file.c when i
meant rm file.o -- duhrrr. I immediately unmounted the partition and
used the program hexedit on /dev/sd0x, I then used its search feature
to search for a name of a function i had coded that was unique. It
took about 2 hours.
When I found it, I used hexedit's select and copy to new file feature
to save it. I can't tell you how relieved I was! In fact, I may have
been caught doing a little dance :)
Sorry I can't answer your question to restore your mp3s, but I hope it
helps in the future. Just make sure you unmount the fs that holds your
deleted files asap, so that any new writes wont overlap your deleted
files.
