The software package itself is outrageously expensive from my point of
view. $13,000 is seriously the figure they are looking at spending.

Sorry, I disagree with your assertion that Windows is perfectly suited
for this application. Debian possibly could do the job, but now that I
know that kaffe probably isn't required I've reinstalled OpenBSD on the
box and will proceed in that direction.
