Hi,

I have been doing some tests in preparation for setting up OpneBSD in CF
on a Soekris machine. I have used this command:

mount_mfs -o rw,nosuid,noatime,noexec -i 128 -s 1184 -P /dev swap /mnt

It copies /dev to a memory file system which is located at /mnt for
testing purposes. It duplicates /dev on /mnt. I will eventually use
fstab to do something similar to mount /dev as a memory file system, as
reading I have done indicates that this will help prolong the life of my
CF card.

Problem is, I get this error:

pax: /mnt/./log skipped. Sockets cannot be copied or extracted

Sure enough /dev/log is not replicated on /mnt. I've done a search of
the error message on google, which returns some source code that doesn't
help me out. I had a look at the syslogd man page and the
/etc/syslogd.conf file, but I haven't found that magic piece of info
that will solve this dilemma.

How should I go about ensuring that my mfs version of /dev has a log socket?

On a side note, does anyone have suggestions for the best way to
automatically dump the contents of a memory file system back to CF on a
reboot or halt?
