Here is what I learned about security.
Compartment as much as you can,
Minimise exposure,
Be Vigilant,
Be Knowlegable,
Know Thy Enemy,
Know thyself.
Keep your friends close,
Keep your ememies closer.
Really a secure machine is only as good as the persons who use it.
So security comes down to Human Error, which finds new innovations
to overwhelm, and outpace the ability of the Smart, to defend against
the stupid.
A basic radio transmitter on a PS/2 Keyboard interface would expose
in plain text a password used for "root' access without ssh, telnet, or
even ftp being in the loop.
For me, I am just looking forward to purchasing the IBM t42 with the
biometric interface,
at least there, the ability to "brute" force a passcode is that more
difficult, even
with Wim Van Eck asking the question : is it secure?
