Framebuffer?

Hi,

Is there something akin to the Linux Framebuffer under OpenBSD?
Something I can write to, to draw graphics on screen without having to
resort to starting up X?

PS:
I did google for it, but found only a reference to support being
offered by directfb and running openbsd on an ibook
