New (old/used) toy I picked up :-)
I've not had much time to play with this thing yet. Just
finished installing 3.9 on it and got it to boot.
Just a few notes before I forget, as I'll probably not
have a chance to mess with this thing 'til next week.
The mobo might be faulty/flaky, as I had a hard time getting
the CD to boot and also be recognized by the installation
process.
After moving the CDRom to the second IDE controller slot,
the installation "saw" it for the install sets. But I got
a ton of errors from tar when installing {base,comp}39.tgz
and one other set. I went through the install set again
(choosing cd -> cd0 -> sets that failed) and only base and
comp failed. Finally, I mounted the cd and copied those
.tgz files to local disk and used "disk" as an option to
install the two sets. That worked fine.
MP. My first MP system. I didn't see an option during the
install to select bsd.mp image. I did a quick look around
and boot.conf(8) gave me the idea to place 'set image bsd.mp'
in the /etc/boot.conf file and reboot. That seemed to have
worked fine, except the fact that the keyboard (PS/2) is no
longer responsive.
None of these are high-priority for me right now, as I said,
it is a play toy until I see that it is a stable enough to
replace my web server with it. In which case, there is no
need for the keyboard anyway.
