The problem was related with a LBA translation bug in comBIOS 1.29
(released on february 2007). Soren Kristensen fixed this bug in
a new firmware revision for the net4501 and net4801, released
yesterday, and all is fine right now. (Thanks Soren!)

This is a different beast, think. It looks like (another) bug in the
BIOS of this old computer (hd0 is a 6 GB IDE drive, hd1 is a 2 GB drive).
