If that's not too expensive for you, you could consider an Apple Mac
mini. One of mine is even in a datacenter far away as a server, of
course running OpenBSD, without any particular problems. They are
fast, have good network, are very quiet (usually you can't hear them
except with a disc in the DVD drive), and to use them as a workstation
with a large monitor shouldn't be a problem either (mine are running
headless though, so I've no experience with that).
